This redevelopment for Hispanic Housing will utilize an existing building and a near vacant lot to create a new cornerstone for the neighborhood. The existing 4 story warehouse will be converted into affordable family apartments. A new 5 story building with affordable elderly apartments, community space and covered parking on the ground floor, will be constructed on the adjacent lot.
The existing terra cotta facade of the existing warehouse building has been restored, contributing to the fabric of the surrounding area. The new building on the block picks up themes and details from the adjacent facades, tying the block together while providing a strong presence on the corner of a busy street. This redevelopment of a derelict block of the city will help bring much needed housing and new life to the area.
