| This two-building project is located on one of the few remaining open tracts of land in the vibrant Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago. The front building will be a five story, 72-unit, new construction consisting of mostly one bedroom units. The building's ground floor accommodates a public City of Chicago Senior Center, which include programs such as exercise, recreation, and adult education. The rear seven story building will provide 45 family units in a mix of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom units. The overall design of both buildings gives a historic nod to the pre-Chicago Fire neighborhood while creating a new and interesting sense of place. Multiple colored brick and patterns acknowledge cultural preferences. Stone and brick details provide interest and look to some modern influences. Brightly colored cornices provide a unique identity to the buildings in their urban setting. |
